  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000326 to IRIX 5.2 and
  11.        IRIX 5.3.

  13.        1.1  _S_u_p_p_o_r_t_e_d__H_a_r_d_w_a_r_e__P_l_a_t_f_o_r_m_s
  14.  
  15.        This patch adds support for Indy and Indigo2 XL systems with
  16.        NG1 graphics boards containing revision D of the cmap chip.
  17.        This patch also fixes a bug in the IDE for the  Indy XZ and
  18.        Indigo2 XZ and Extreme graphics.  The software cannot be
  19.        installed on other configurations.

  28.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX 5.2
  29.        and IRIX 5.3.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug
  30.        tracking system are included for reference.

  32.           +o Because of differences between the new rev D cmap part
  33.             and earlier parts, the diagnostics in /stand/ide would
  34.             report a failure when testing the rev D cmap color
  35.             palette.  This problem (Bug #262285) has been fixed.
  36.             You can determine what revision of the cmap is
  37.             installed in your system by running /usr/gfx/gfxinfo.
  38.  
  39.           +o In the 5.3 release, there is a bug in the IDE for the
  40.             Indy XZ and Indigo2 XZ and Extreme graphics. When the
  41.             test for the shram is run, the error counter is
  42.             incremented whether or not an error actually occurred,
  43.             so the IDE reports that graphics has failed. This patch
  44.             fixes that bug. Note that if the patch is installed on
  45.             a 5.2 system for the above cmap IDE bug, this
  46.             XZ/Extreme fix will be included. (Bug #261417)

  76.        Because you want to install only the patches for problems
  77.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  78.        default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed in
  79.        this patch (see Section 1.3), determine the patches that
  80.        meet your specific needs.

  82.        If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
  83.        notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
  84.        meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
  85.        _i_n_s_t.
  86.  
  87.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  88.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
  89.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot
  90.        form of the software installation tools.

  92.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  94.          1.  At the Inst>prompt, type

  102.          3.  Initiate the installation sequence. Type

  106.          4.  You may find that two patches have been marked as
  107.              incompatible.  If this occurs, you must deselect one
  108.              of the patches.

  114.          5.  After completing the installation process, exit the

  120.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  121.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  122.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  123.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
